Free GCSE Maths retrieval practice games

One quick-fire game for every AQA GCSE Maths topic, ready to project. No account, no login for students, nothing to set up.

Why retrieval practice

Pulling something out of memory strengthens it more than reading it again does, and it works best when the practice is spaced out and mixed with older topics. That is the whole design of these games.

Spaced and mixed, not one-off

Each game has fifteen questions in three sets: one for about a week after teaching the topic, one for three to four weeks after, and one for the end of term, mixed with earlier topics. Use the set that matches when you taught it.

Running it in a lesson

  1. Project the game and let the class pick a number.
  2. Give everyone time to answer on a mini whiteboard or the printed answer sheet.
  3. Press Space to reveal the answer, and Space again to show the method behind it.

Ten minutes at the start of a lesson is plenty. Each topic's bundle also includes a printable answer sheet and spaced retrieval quizzes in Word.
